Collapsed Transmission Tower, Technical Faults Plunge Kaduna Into Days of Power Outage

Kaduna Electric has urged residents to remain patient while repairs continue.

Kaduna residents have been battling persistent power outages in recent days following multiple system failures across the state capital.

In the latest incident, Kaduna Electric announced that a collapsed 132kV transmission tower disrupted supply to the Kaduna Town Transmission Station, cutting power to large parts of the metropolis. The company said the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) engineers were already working with other stakeholders to restore supply.

“We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience and understanding,” the management said in a statement issued Friday, September 19, 2025.

This comes on the heels of two other outages earlier in the week. On September 16, areas including Kaduna Airport, Eye Center, Mahuta and surrounding communities were thrown into darkness due to technical issues on the 33kV Airport Road feeder. Kaduna Electric assured that its team was on-site to rectify the fault.

Similarly, on September 14, customers in Jaji, NTA-Jaji, Igabi village and the Military Cantonment experienced power cuts traced to a fault at the Jaji Injection Substation.

Head of Corporate Communications, Abdulazeez Abdullahi, who signed the earlier statement, said the company was working round the clock to restore electricity to the affected areas.

The recurring outages have sparked frustration among residents and businesses in Kaduna, who say the disruptions are crippling economic activities and domestic life.

Kaduna Electric has urged residents to remain patient while repairs continue.
