Former Kaduna State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Ambassador Dr. Polycarp Gankon, has thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd.), as Minister of Defence.
Gankon, in a statement on Wednesday, signed by his media consultant James Swam, also congratulated Musa on his successful screening and confirmation by the Senate after a three-hour session that tested his military knowledge and understanding of Nigeria’s security challenges. According to him, the former CDS’s performance at the screening further underscored his readiness for the task ahead.
He said Musa’s career, marked by extensive military training, frontline experience and years of counterterrorism operations, has equipped him with the discipline and competence needed to lead the country’s defence sector.
He added that the former CDS demonstrated commitment and professionalism in his previous role and has shown determination to confront criminality in all forms.
Gankon noted that Southern Kaduna is particularly proud of Musa’s achievements, describing his elevation as a boost to the region’s contribution to national development.
“His confirmation speaks not only to his personal excellence but also to the resilience and contribution of Southern Kaduna to Nigeria’s unity and development,” he stated. He expressed confidence that the new minister would succeed in his assignment.
