The Kaduna State Chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has congratulated Senator Dr. Nenadi Usman on her victory at the Supreme Court, which affirmed her leadership and prompted the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise her as the party’s National Chairman.

In a statement on Friday, the State Chairman, Elder Dr. Yusuf Solomon Danbaki, described the judgment as the end of a long legal struggle and a new beginning for the party.

The party described Usman as a “gentle, patient, yet resilient fighter who plays the game strictly within the rules,” saying her unwavering commitment to justice, fairness, and due process has served as an inspiration amid the challenges faced by the party.

The party further highlighted her record as the first woman to serve as national chairman in Nigeria, describing the achievement as a boost for women’s participation in politics.

“We are immensely proud of her historic achievement as the first woman to serve as party chairman of the first three political parties in Nigeria,” the statement read. “This milestone not only elevates the status of women in Nigerian politics but also sets a powerful precedent for generations to come.”

Emphasising unity, the statement reaffirmed the party’s commitment to Usman’s post-victory declaration in court: “no victor, no vanquish” and pledged to foster reconciliation without division, urging all members who had defected to other parties during the uncertainty to return to its fold.

“We call upon all our members who may have joined other parties to come back home, where your voices and contributions are valued and needed now more than ever,” Danbaki stated. “Similarly, we urge all aggrieved persons to set aside past grievances and join hands with us in building a stronger, more inclusive party. Together, we can overcome challenges and chart a path forward.”

The state chairman expressed optimism about the party’s future under Usman’s leadership, noting that the national executive will soon roll out activities leading to congresses and the national convention to reinvigorate the party’s structures and position it for greater successes in serving the Nigerian people.

The Labour Party Kaduna State Chapter concluded by reiterating its readiness to support the national leadership in all endeavours, signaling a unified front as the party moves beyond its internal disputes.
