FG, Kuwait Fund Partner To Transform Education In Kaduna With $25.35m Loan

The Federal Government has signed a $25.35 million concessional loan agreement with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development to support the “Reaching Out-of-School Children” programme in Kaduna State.

Signed in Abuja Tuesday, the agreement forms part of a $62.8 million education funding package with international partners aimed at expanding access to quality and inclusive education for vulnerable children.

Mohammed Manga, director, information and public relations at the federal ministry of finance announced this in a statement.

Minister of state for finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, who represented the finance minister, said the initiative reflects Nigeria’s commitment to accountability and results. “This partnership is about compassion, equity, and the power of education,” she noted.

Director-General of the Kuwait Fund, Dr. Wahid Al-Bahar, said the initiative would enroll over 100,000 children, build or upgrade over 200 schools, and train thousands of teachers.

Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, confirmed the state’s full counterpart funding of $1m and highlighted that 26% of its 2025 budget was allocated to education as a priority. He announced the construction of 102 new climate-resilient schools and rehabilitation of 170 others, targeting girls, children with disabilities, and internally displaced persons.

The federal ministry of finance will oversee monitoring, ensuring transparency and measurable impact in Kaduna’s education sector.
