Support groups drawn from three local government areas in Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone have pledged support for the reelection bids of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The commitment was made during a meeting convened by Musawah for Youth and Development Initiative in Kaduna, where about 50 support groups met to strategise on grassroots mobilisation and voter sensitisation across Chikun, Kaduna North, and Igabi local governments.

Speaking at the meeting, the National Coordinator of Musawah Initiative, Amb. Dr. Polycarp Gankon, urged members of the various groups to begin sensitising their supporters and communities on the need to prepare for the forthcoming elections.

According to him, the groups must work towards ensuring the return of President Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani for a second term in office.

Gankon also charged the support groups to encourage eligible voters, particularly youths and those without Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), to obtain the PVC through the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal ahead of the elections.

He stressed the importance of voter participation, noting that political mobilisation at the grassroots level would play a critical role in the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at both the national and state levels.

Leaders of the various support groups who spoke at the meeting reaffirmed their commitment to the aspirations of the Musawah Initiative and pledged to mobilise support for the APC across their communities.

They, however, appealed to the leadership of the initiative to provide campaign and promotional materials to aid their mobilisation efforts at the grassroots.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of an exceptional leadership award to Amb. Dr. Polycarp Gankon by the Southern Kaduna Council of Elders Women group.

The group honoured him with the traditional title, “Dan Amana Kudancin Kaduna,” in recognition of what it described as his exemplary leadership and contributions towards youth and women development in Southern Kaduna.
