The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna South Senatorial District has disowned a purported endorsement of Senator Sunday Marshall Katung and Hon. Daniel Amos, describing it as unauthorized and misleading.
In a statement signed by the Zonal Chairman, Alhaji Shehu Musa Tafa, the party said its attention was drawn to a media report credited to one Mr. Billy Otis, who allegedly declared support for the two lawmakers ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the APC leadership, Otis neither acted on behalf of the party nor represented its structures in the zone, stressing that he was not even a registered member of the APC.
“Mr. Otis attended the mentioned event strictly in his personal capacity. He was neither a representative of the party’s leadership in the Zone nor did he act at its instance. Consequently, his personal views and pronouncements cannot, and should not, be misconstrued as the official position of millions of dedicated APC members in Kaduna South Senatorial District,” the statement read in part.
The party described the development as an attempt to undermine its unity and integrity, warning that such actions would attract disciplinary measures in line with its constitution.
Reaffirming confidence in its internal processes, the APC leadership emphasized that when the time comes, candidates will emerge through established guidelines and due process. It ruled out the possibility of sourcing candidates from outside the party.
“We are immensely blessed with a deep reservoir of competent and qualified members within our fold who possess the requisite credentials to aspire to and effectively represent our people at all levels, including the National Assembly. We cannot, and will not, look outside our party for potential candidates,” the zonal chairman stated.
The statement further reminded members of the importance of party discipline, insisting on total loyalty from all who claim membership.
“The APC expects one hundred percent loyalty from its members. Those who find themselves unable to offer such commitment are advised to honourably exercise their right of association elsewhere,” it added.
The zonal leadership cautioned members to be circumspect in their public communications, noting that the party would not allow its name to be used for “unauthorized personal transactions or to advance individual agendas.”
