Pastors and church leaders under the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) Kaduna East District Church Council have been urged to strictly adhere to the church’s established policies and guidelines to avoid ethical lapses and other challenges in ministry.
The advice was given by the District Secretary of the Kaduna East District Church Council (DCC), Rev. Prince Bagu Maza, during the “Leadership Seminar on ECWA Policy and Guideline” held on Saturday, 7 February, 2026 at the First ECWA Church, Sabon Tasha, Kaduna.
Speaking at the one-day seminar, Rev. Maza emphasised that ECWA, since its formation, has operated with a well-defined constitution, bye-laws, pastors’ handbook, as well as financial policies and guidelines that regulate the conduct and operations of its members and leaders.
According to him, strict compliance with these documents is essential for effective leadership and accountability within the church.
“Every pastor, elder and agency leader must adhere strictly to ECWA policies and guidelines. This is important because every instruction needed to succeed on the job is clearly written there,” he said.
Rev. Maza further charged participants to always consult the ECWA constitution and bye-laws when taking decisions on church-related issues, noting that doing so would provide proper guidance and prevent avoidable errors.
He cautioned church leaders against financial misconduct, particularly the withholding of the statutory 25 percent through the concealment of church income. He warned that such actions could attract severe disciplinary measures and damage the reputation of those involved.
Other speakers at the seminar included the district accountant Paul Avog and the district auditor, Joshua Chohu, who spoke extensively on financial management issues within the church. They highlighted the importance of proper financial reporting, budgeting, and adequate preparation for auditing exercises.
The speakers encouraged local churches to study and understand ECWA’s financial policies and guidelines, stressing that ignorance of financial regulations does not excuse violations.
They also underscored the need for accurate record-keeping in accounting to minimise errors in financial reporting.
Some participants, who spoke with KadunaNews24 expressed optimism that the knowledge gained at the seminar would significantly improve the administration and operations of their local churches.
Beyond lectures, the seminar provided a space for honest interaction and shared learning. For many, it served as more than a training, it was a call to return to order.
The seminar was organised for pastors, elders, and agency leaders in all local churches within the Kaduna East District Church Council. The annual event provided a platform for church leaders to interact and share ideas on effective leadership and management strategies aimed at promoting church growth and the spread of the Gospel.
“The message of the seminar was simple but profound: when leaders follow the rules, the church remains strong,” stated an agency leader who preferred to remain anonymous.
