The Musawah for Youth and Development Initiative (Musawah 4 Y-D Initiative) has formally completed the inauguration of its campaign structures across the 23 local government areas of Kaduna State, with a total of 2,410 grassroots officials to drive its campaign activities for the 2027 elections.

The National Coordinator of the initiative, Ambassador Dr. Polycarp D. Gankon, made this known on Tuesday during the induction and inauguration ceremony for central senatorial and northern senatorial local government officials held at the organisation’s head office in Kaduna.

Addressing participants at the event, Gankon described the inauguration as a major milestone in the expansion of the initiative’s grassroots network, noting that the presence of the local government leaders and ward officials demonstrated their commitment to the vision of the movement.

“The Musawah 4 Y-D Initiative is more than just a platform; it is a movement inspired by the exemplary leadership philosophy of General Christopher Musa, our Honourable Minister of Defence,” he said.

He explained that the initiative draws inspiration from the minister’s emphasis on inclusive governance, youth empowerment and issue-based politics anchored on national development.

According to him, the newly inaugurated structure comprises coordinators, secretaries, youth mobilisers, women mobilisers, and public relations officers across all the 23 local government areas of the state, bringing the total number of officials to 115 in the local governments and 2,295 in the wards.

Gankon further tasked the local government leaders to replicate the structure at the ward levels and polling units by inaugurating nine officials in each of the 255 wards, including desk officers, secretaries and seven focal persons, in order to deepen grassroots engagement.

“You are now the torchbearers of this vision in your respective communities,” he told the officials. “Your role is vital — to champion these ideals, mobilise our youth and women to ensure that our message of progress resonates with every citizen.”

The coordinator reaffirmed the initiative’s support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as well as the Kaduna State Government under Governor Uba Sani, noting that both leaderships are working towards strengthening governance and development.

He urged the newly inaugurated officials to remain committed to building an inclusive political movement that reflects the needs and aspirations of the people.

Gankon also reiterated the group’s slogan, “Musawah Initiative – Home for All, Gidan Kowa,” describing it as a call for unity, inclusiveness and collective responsibility in nation-building.

The event marked the final phase of the inauguration of local government structures of the initiative in Kaduna State, setting the stage for expanded mobilisation efforts at both local and ward levels.

Participants at the ceremony expressed readiness to take the initiative’s message to their communities, with a focus on youth engagement, voter sensitisation and grassroots political participation
