Contractors in Kaduna State have commended the Ministry for Local Government and the state government for what they described as “timely and humane” interventions aimed at easing their long-standing challenges.
Under the leadership of Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos, the ministry has intensified infrastructure development across the 23 local government areas, including the recent distribution of solar-powered streetlights to communities.
The initiative, according to stakeholders, is already improving safety and economic activities at the grassroots.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Concerned Kaduna Contractors praised the government for addressing the plight of contractors affected by the “Formal Act” projects, many of which were abandoned without payment in the previous administration. Some contractors, they noted, had waited for over two years with mounting debts and uncertainty.
They, however, expressed relief that the administration of Governor Uba Sani has shown compassion by initiating steps to settle outstanding obligations, restoring hope to many families and small businesses dependent on those contracts.
“This intervention is not just about payments; it is about restoring dignity and trust,” the group said, urging the government to sustain the momentum in both infrastructure delivery and contractor support.
The contractors reaffirmed their commitment to partnering with the government in delivering quality projects that will further improve the lives of citizens across the state.
