In the landscape of Kaduna politics, one name that continues to echo with consistency, loyalty, and strategic brilliance is Ben Kure. For over a decade, Kure has remained a prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC), traversing the length and breadth of Kaduna State to engage stakeholders, mobilise the grassroots, and advocate for party values.
Described by many as a skilled political strategist and master public communicator, Ben Kure’s contribution to the APC’s growth in Kaduna is both visible and impactful. His political journey has not been without challenges, but like a lion, he has embraced the highs and lows of politics with a determined spirit and unwavering resolve.
Kure’s loyalty to the APC is undeniable. As a torchbearer he has twice served as Director-General of the APC Governorship Campaign Council – during the 2015 and 2019 elections. Under his strategic leadership, the party secured landmark victories on both occasions.
Kure’s campaign brilliance was instrumental in defeating the then-incumbent governor, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero in 2015, a feat many political watchers termed a turning point for APC in Kaduna. In 2019, his continued leadership ensured the party’s consolidation of power, marking back-to-back victories that solidified APC’s dominance in the state.
His consistent involvement at critical moments of party mobilisation and elections has earned him a reputation as one of APC’s most dependable political assets in Kaduna.
Ben Kure’s dedication to the APC goes beyond election cycles. He has proven time and again to be a reliable voice for the party, especially in times of political turbulence. Most recently, following controversial comments by former governor Nasir El-Rufai on Channels Television, Kure stepped into the spotlight to defend the current administration of Governor Uba Sani.
Barely a week into his new role as Managing Director of the Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC), Kure courageously responded with a counter-interview on the same national platform. He refuted the claims made by El-Rufai and projected a positive image of the Uba Sani administration, highlighting its efforts in governance, unity, and inclusivity compared to the previous eight years.
Such bold interventions underscore Kure’s unflinching commitment to protecting and promoting the APC and its current leadership, even when doing so requires confronting powerful political figures.
Kure’s contributions to governance are equally noteworthy. Prior to his recent appointment at KSMC, he served in several impactful roles: He was Chairman of Jaba Local Government (2016–2017); Executive Secretary, Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (2018–2019); Special Adviser on Political Matters to the Governor (2019–2021).
These roles were marked by active engagement with communities, effective crisis response, and sound political advisory, further proving his versatility and readiness to serve at all levels.
Today, at the helm of KSMC, he is driving a communication strategy that amplifies the government’s bridge-building initiatives, reforms, and developmental projects, ensuring that residents of Kaduna are well-informed and involved.
Before venturing into public service, Ben Kure built a solid foundation in the banking sector, holding leadership positions in some of Nigeria’s top financial institutions, including Oceanic Bank, Zenith Bank, and Broad Bank where he was branch manager and team lead. This professional background has equipped him with strategic management skills, financial prudence, and organisational discipline, qualities that continue to reflect in his public service.
Kure’s career is supported by strong academic credentials. He holds a Master’s degree in Conflict, Peace and Strategic Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in Geography and Planning. He is also a Corporate Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) and a Member of the Institute of Management Consultants (MIMC).
