The Chairman of Kaura Local Government Area, Hon. Sankyai Obadiah, has commended the Takad Development Association (TDA) and the Takad Traditional Council for their sustained efforts in promoting unity, peace and progress within the Takad Community.
Hon. Obadiah gave the commendation while speaking at the 2025 A’kat Cultural Day Festival of the Takad people, themed “Promoting Takad Cultural Identity and Unity for Sustainable Growth in Nigeria.” He described the annual cultural celebration as a strong platform for fostering communal harmony and preserving the rich cultural heritage of the people.
The council chairman reaffirmed “his administration’s commitment to addressing insecurity and upliftment of socio-economic standards of Kaura residents,” noting that peace and development remain top priorities of his leadership.
Addressing the youth, Hon. Obadiah cautioned them against involvement in social vices, urging them to embrace discipline, hard work and responsible living. He emphasised that young people play a critical role in shaping the future of the community and must therefore channel their energy towards positive and productive ventures.
He further advised the youth and other residents to actively participate in community development and security initiatives, including night watch activities and prompt reporting of suspicious incidents, adding that collective responsibility is key to tackling security challenges at the grassroots.
The cultural festival, organized by the Takad Development Association in collaboration with the Takad Traditional Council, attracted sons and daughters of the Takad Community from across the globe. It featured colourful cultural displays, traditional dances and exhibitions of Takad artifacts, showcasing the community’s rich cultural identity.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Kaduna State, Dr. Barrister James Kanyip, who represented the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani; His Royal Highness Tobias N. Wada, Chief of Takad Chiefdom; the President of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, Hon. Justice B.B. Kanyip; and other prominent personalities.
In recognition of his impactful leadership and contributions to grassroots development, the Takad Community honoured Hon. Sankyai Obadiah with an award. Barrister James Kanyip also received an award for his service and commitment to the community.
The festival concluded with a renewed call for unity and collective action towards sustainable growth and development of the Takad Community and Kaura Local Government Area at large.
